Etac power wheelchairs…
I have had a spinal injury since 2002 and am a full time power chair user. I used to own a Balder power chair from 2003 (when I came out of hospital ) until 2010 when I bought a newly released Etac E series power chair
worst mistake of my (wheelchair) life .. It has been nothing but a royal pain in the as* (if I could have felt it that is) and at £18, 500 it wasn’t cheap.
From day one it went wrong and continues to do so up to this day, I have had so many faults I couldn’t list them all, but includes failed main motor, functions not working correctly and more knackered batteries than I care to recall.
So you can imagine my glee when I found out that Etac had stopped making the E series and importing to the UK. Etak UK have been less than helpful during all this time, and on many occasions I was without a wheelchair for prolonged periods of time, which isn’t very good considering that we live in a very rural location, and I drive my van everywhere …
I still have the Etac as I am waiting for a new Mercedes Van, and have already got a new Jive up power chair, but I’m hoping to keep it running to use around the garden, but the way its been I doubt it will last…
Lesson learned …. expensive isn’t always best
