British Paralympic Association
We are the British Paralympic Association, or the BPA. As the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for Great Britain, it is our responsibility to select, prepare, enter, fund and manage the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the Paralympic Games. This team is known as ParalympicsGB.
ParalympicsGB has a proud track record of coming second on the medal table at the past three summer Games and we are working hard to make sure that we maintain this second place in London, winning more medals across more sports.
But for London our ambitions go beyond our final place on the medal table: we want to use the power of a home Games to shift perceptions of disability sport and disabled people, maximising the momentum that London 2012 creates to affect real change and lasting improvement. In line with our charitable objects, our vision for 2012 to 2017 is:
Through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people, and our mission is:
To make the UK the leading nation in Paralympic sport…
* On the field of play
* In support of athletes
* In our advocacy and influence
* In promotion of the Movement
* In supporting the development of grassroots participation and a world class sporting system
